Job title: Health, Safety and Environment Advisor
Work Location: Bagotville, Cold Lake, Montreal 
Division: Health and Safety
Reports to: Program Manager

We are looking for an Occupational Health and Safety Environment Advisor, able to develop and coordinate risk prevention programs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Essential tasks and responsibilities:

• Propose and implement prevention strategies and programs thus contributing to the establishment of a culture focused on the reporting of incidents and on the coaching of supervisors;

• Complete the analysis of trends in accidents, incidents and inspections and develop corrective action plans;

• Collect, analyze the health and safety statistical reports and communicate key performance indicators to the manager;

• Promote the prevention of workplace accidents;

• Support training activities and presentations on occupational health and safety and accident prevention;

• Assist and supervise representatives of occupational health and safety to ensure that workplace inspections, danger reports and safety documents comply with regulations;

• Ensure compliance with the WHMIS program;

• Provide an advisory role in OHS and act as an agent of influence and change with employees and managers;

• Maintain and update the Top Aces occupational health and safety manual;

• Participate in OHS committee meetings;

• Assist directors with funding for health and safety activities;

• Receive the CNESST inspector if necessary (audit, accident, follow-up, etc.);

• Work in collaboration with the HR Director in the management of accident files in the workplace;

• Perform basic inspections and document observations with the aim of supervising and advising health and safety representatives;

• Ensure that training and certifications are up to date.


Essential Requirements:

• Knowledge and understanding of current health and safety legislation and laws;

• Previous studies in the field of health and safety or in a related field;


Education and / or work experience requirements:

• College diploma in environment and safety at work or university certificate in Health and Safety;

• 5-7 years of health and safety experience;

• Experience working with provincial and federal legislation on Health and Safety at work;

• Aviation OSH experience, an asset;

• Well organized, ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines;

• Positive and professional attitude, capable of taking initiatives;

• Autonomous, leadership, thoroughness, attention to detail and structure;

• Discretion and confidential concern;

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in French and English;

• Ability to prioritize competing requests;

• Strong skills with the Microsoft Office suite;

• Demonstrates strong and visible support for our values;

• Flexibility in working hours and open to working overtime if necessary;

• Position requires Level II Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
