Job title: Accountant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and analysis of transactions;
  • Responsible to journalize month end entries related to accruals, prepaids and insurance;
  • Journalize depreciation on fixed assets and update fixed assets schedule;
  • Responsible for the fixed assets investments reporting on a consolidation basis (actuals vs budget);
  • Responsible for fixed assets reporting special reports (project management);
  • Preparation of different Adhoc analysis;
  • Participation in the preparation of audit files;
  • Participation in the improvement of business and financial processes;
  • Responsible for statistics Canada Records;
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor;
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Working towards CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) or a minimum of 5-10 years of related work experience as technician;
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards is considered to be an asset;
  • Attention to detail is a must;
  • Sold work ethic, results oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently deliver on time with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively within a team environment to achieve shared goals;
  • Sound judgment and high standard of ethics required;
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel;
  • Experience with ACCPAC and HFM is considered as asset;
  • Ability to perform all work in support of our Corporate Values of Service, Integrity, Excellence, and Teamwork;
  • Demonstrates strong and visible support of our values;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers;
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service;
  • Position requires Level II Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
