Director, Engineering

Location: Montreal, Quebec

  • Coordinate the development of aircraft major maintenance and modification projects
  • Develop and approve when necessary data to accomplish major maintenance and modifications
  • Ensure adequate personnel and facilities, including current tooling and technical/regulatory data are available to complete projects
  • Schedule and oversee completion of work involved with these programs
  • Responsible to maintain records of all company engineering approvals
  • Preparation and review of engineering data packages to support aircraft modifications
  • Preparation and review of engineering data packages to support aircraft repairs
  • Oversee fleet structural integrity program
  • Oversee the technical work of junior staff
  • Act as program manager interfacing with major suppliers to ensure objectives are reached on budget and on schedule
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Build and Liaise with Design Support Network
  • Develop Engineering Policy and process elements consistent with TCCA and Customer policies
  • Manage Engineering Department Budget, update forecast, update CAPEX, make submissions.

You will have the following responsibilities in order to comply with the company's Occupational Health and Safety program:

Managers are responsible for:
  • Providing a safe and healthy workplace including the necessary equipment, systems, and tools which are properly maintained
  • Providing information, training, instruction and supervision to protect the Occupational Health and Safety of Employees
  • Ensuring Employees under their direction know and comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Ensuring Employees under their direction receive adequate supervision.
  • Establishing, supporting, and consulting with Occupational Health and Safety committees and Workplace Occupational Health and Safety representatives on all matters to improve workplace Occupational Health and Safety including regular safety inspections of the workplace.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10) years related experience in design in the aerospace industry (military or commercial)
  • Experience in design, development, integration and/or certification of aircraft propulsion systems (military or commercial)
  • Possess detailed knowledge of condition based maintenance techniques
  • Possess detailed knowledge of turbine engine maintenance programs
  • Knowledge of aircraft and engine design rules and standards
  • Experience with Fighter aircraft, an asset
  • Knowledge of aircraft design rules and standards
  • Fluent with the Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of SharePoint, an asset
  • Possess effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead a team in a diversified and changing environment
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills to meet tight deadlines
  • Fluent written and oral communications skills in English
  • Professional proficiency in French, an asset

  • Travel may be required
  • Position requires Secret Level 2 Security Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
